Hugh McHarg is currently the associate dean for strategic initiatives at the University of Southern California Libraries. He oversees academic, cultural, and public programming, including the libraries’ role as the host institution for the Los Angeles as Subject research collective and the libraries’ partnership with the Marshall School of Business in administering the USC Master of Management in Library and Information Science program. The libraries’ grants office, communication operations, and the Sidney Harman Academy for Polymathic Study are also part of his leadership portfolio. Hugh serves as co-executive producer of the documentary series Lost L.A., the Emmy-winning co-production with KCET that engages archival collections to make the diverse histories of Los Angeles more accessible to public audiences. Hugh joined USC in 2006 and holds a Master of Fine Arts in fiction from Brown University. His work at USC Libraries has received funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and Cal Humanities.
