Jane Goodall Research Center

JGRC History at USC

The University of Southern California’s Research Center was established in 1991, at the time of the appointment of Dr. Jane Goodall as Distinguished Emeritus Professor of Anthropology and Occupational Science.

Apes and the Human Condition

Since then, JGRC personnel have been engaged in a variety of activities connected to understanding the behavior of great apes and evolutionary approaches to explaining the human condition.  The core faculty of the center are appointed in either the Department of Anthropology, the Department of Biological Sciences, or both.

The Center consists of two general research areas: archival and field research.
