$201,244<\/big><\/big><\/big><\/big><\/span><\/h1>\n

The annual Chamber Day event this year raised an amazing $201,244<\/strong><\/big><\/span><\/span>, a new record. (This despite the current state of the economy.) The event culminated on May 6. Monies raised will help fund the Chamber for the coming fiscal year.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith everything going on in the economy and the world these days, we had expected a drop from last year,\u201d said event chairman Ken Kurtis. \u201cSo Chamber Director Karl Huggins and I are quite pleased to be wrong in this instance. And we were both stunned and delighted that, for the first time ever, we\u2019ve exceeded $200,000, a level of donation that only a few years ago seemed unreachable.\u201d<\/p>\n

The event has a daytime diving component which consists of two dives at Catalina and a walking tour of the Chamber facilities at Big Fisherman\u2019s Cove, an evening dinner gala at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, and opportunities to buy t-shirts and other Chamber-themed merchandise. Divers can also direct donations to the Chamber through the Chamber Challenge which by itself accounted for over $146,375 of the monies raised. All told, including volunteers who staff the various aspects of the event, over 1,000 divers participated.<\/p>\n

As this is an annual event, Chamber Day 2027 is scheduled for May 5 of next year.<\/p>\n
