Real Job - Real Experience

Whether you have an answer to this question or not, the Gateway Internship Program will provide you with opportunities to explore a career through an internship experience, gain insight from a mentorship with a distinguished professional and strengthen your career preparation skills through participation in a seminar series.  The Gateway Internship Program will:

  • Deliver a robust internship experience providing opportunities to interact with different levels of management
  • Enhance internship experiences with a required series providing expert guest speakers from various industries, collaboration with fellow students and personal reflection
  • Provide individualized support through mentor matching with a distinguished business professional



Eligible students are invited to apply via E-mail at the beginning of the spring semester.  Eligible students:

  • Have a Dornsife major or minor
  • Have sophomore, junior or senior class-standing (No spring 2016 graduates)
  • Have a USC cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Need to complete and submit a program application by stated deadline

The Gateway program will help you secure a paid internship through one of our participating partner employers.

You secure an unpaid internship and the Gateway program supplies a $2,000-4,000 stipend. Internships must be with a non-profit 501 (C) or government agency.  Limited to domestic internships.

Jan. 4 -18 | Students are invited to apply
Jan. 27 | Gateway Partner Employer Application deadline
Feb. 1-5 | Students are notified of round 1 interviews
Feb. 8-11 | Round 1 campus interviews
Feb. 15-19 | Round 1 finalists are matched and sent to employers
Feb. 22-Mar. 25 | Employer second round interviews
Mar. 28-Apr. 11 | Eligible students are invited to apply to Pay it Forward
April 1-8 | Gateway partner Employers notify students of final decisions
April 15 | Pay it Forward Application deadline for Non-Profit and Government agencies
May 1 | Pay it Forward finalists selected
June 1 | Program begins
