FSH has been an incredible, welcoming cohort of academically-driven students that I feel grateful to be a part of. Because of the smaller class size and the continuation of the program for both freshman semesters, I feel like I can really lean on my peers for support. The professors and lab teaching assistants are some of the best at USC, clearly passionate about their subjects and willing to help students. Personally, I have met some of my closest friends through the program, and they have pushed me to become the best student I can be. I was worried about college being hyper-competitive, but FSH has proved otherwise. Aside from academic benefits of the program, FSH students are invited to free cultural experiences around L.A. Whether it is picking up giant sea slugs in tide pools at an FSH-sponsored trip or wandering around campus with flashcards to study for BISC 221 with my FSH peers, the FSH academic community has allowed me to find my footing in college and equipped me with the skills to succeed for the next four years, and beyond.

FSH has been a remarkable program for me as a passionate student who wants to grow my knowledge of the natural sciences. I have loved how FSH has provided me with smaller class sizes to meet my teacher one on one outside of the classroom. Additionally, the SI program is very strong for the honors classes and they have even met with us to discuss research and extracurricular activities at USC. FSH provided me with a research opportunity in my Biology lab which I used to earn a summer research position in a Plastic Surgery lab. I think that FSH would be a great program for a student who has a strong background in science and wants to have a jump start in research at USC.
