Her research has most recently appeared in a special issue of <em>L\u2019Esprit Cr\u00e9ateur <\/em>on racial capital. Her article is entitled <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espritcreateur.org\/index.php\/article\/jaune-lexterieur-et-blanche-linterieur-french-asian-post-migratory-narratives-national\">\u201c<em>Jaune \u00e0 l\u2019ext\u00e9rieur et blanche \u00e0 l\u2019int\u00e9rieur<\/em>: French Asian \u2018Post-Migratory\u2019 Narratives, National Belonging and Capital Erasures.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/div>\n                        \n                    <\/div>\n\n\n                    \n                <\/div>\n\n            \n                <div class=\"card\">\n\n                    <div class=\"title-description\">\n\n                                                      \n<div class=\"f--field f--cta-title\">\n\n    \n  <h3>\n           AJ Mata\n      <\/h3>\n\n\n<\/div>\n                        \n                                                        \n<div class=\"f--field f--description\">\n\n    \n  <p><strong>Research Interest:<br \/>\n<\/strong>AJ is a first-year student in the program. He comes to us from UC Davis where he completed a MA in Comparative Literature (May 2026). Prior to that, he completed a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and International Studies from University of San Francisco (May 2024). His research interests center on the circulation of extra-textual and visual documents within French and Francophone cinema.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/div>\n                        \n                    <\/div>\n\n\n                    \n                <\/div>\n\n            \n                <div class=\"card\">\n\n                    <div class=\"title-description\">\n\n                                                      \n<div class=\"f--field f--cta-title\">\n\n    \n  <h3>\n          Elsa Vallot \n      <\/h3>\n\n\n<\/div>\n                        \n                                                        \n<div class=\"f--field f--description\">\n\n    \n  <p><strong>Research Interest:<br \/>\n<\/strong>Elsa\u2019s research focuses on martial arts and the <em>banlieue<\/em>, plasticity and the body, rap music and culture, and the Indian ocean cultural continuum. Her research has appeared in <a href=\"https:\/\/quod.lib.umich.edu\/w\/wsfh\/0642292.0048.004?view=text;rgn=main\"><em>Journal of the Western Society for French History<\/em><\/a>. She is author of the novel <a href=\"https:\/\/horsdatteinte.org\/auteur\/elsa-vallot\/\"><em>Le corps le sang la rage<\/em><\/a> (Hors d\u2019Atteinte, 2021). Elsa is currently conducting her research and dissertation writing in Thailand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/div>\n                        \n                    <\/div>\n\n\n                    \n                <\/div>\n\n            \n                <div class=\"card\">\n\n                    <div class=\"title-description\">\n\n                                                      \n<div class=\"f--field f--cta-title\">\n\n    \n  <h3>\n           Lucy Whiteley\n      <\/h3>\n\n\n<\/div>\n                        \n                                                        \n<div class=\"f--field f--description\">\n\n    \n  <p><strong>Research Interest:<br \/>\n<\/strong>Lucy\u2019s research focuses on the poetics of space and <em>la zone <\/em>in photography and film. Her essay \u201cThe Dust Lecture: On Mortal Flesh\u201d recently appeared in the online literary journal <a href=\"https:\/\/airlightmagazine.org\/airlight\/issue-10\/the-dust-lecture-on-mortal-flesh\/\"><em>Air\/Light<\/em><\/a>.
