Progress (CAP)<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Please note<\/span>: reports dated earlier than June 2020 were published under our previous names: the USC Program for Environmental and Regional Equity (PERE) or the USC Center for the Study of Immigrant Integration (CSII).<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On the one year anniversary of President Obama&#8217;s executive action announcement, the Center for American Progress and CSII release a new report calculating how many potential votes could be on the line for the country&#8217;s political leaders when it comes to their stance on Deferred Action for Parents of Americans (DAPA).<\/p>\n<p>CSII provides new state-by-state projections of how many U.S. citizens (of voting age) live with unauthorized family members who would be eligible for DAPA under the president\u2019s plan\u2014we call them &#8220;DAPA-affected voters&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The report demonstrates how the\u00a0growing electoral impact of DAPA-affected voters could play a decisive role in key battleground states in the 2016 elections and beyond.<\/p>\n<p>Key findings include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>An estimated<strong>\u00a06.3 million U.S. citizens<\/strong>\u00a0live in the same household as a DAPA-eligible relative.<\/li>\n<li>More than\u00a0<strong>5.3 million<\/strong>\u00a0of these citizen family members are the\u00a0<strong>children\u00a0<\/strong>of those eligible for DAPA, and about\u00a0<strong>1 million<\/strong>\u00a0are spouses and other relatives.<\/li>\n<li>By\u00a0<strong>2016<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>1.5 million<\/strong>\u00a0of these 6.3 million citizen relatives will be eligible voters;<\/li>\n<li>And by\u00a0<strong>2020<\/strong>, that figure will rise to\u00a0<strong>2.25 million<\/strong>\u00a0as children and family members reach voting age.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<\/div>\n      \n
