Meet Gladys Malibiran [mah-lee-BEE-rahn<\/em>], a strategic and creative leader guiding the USC Equity Research Institute\u2019s (ERI) collaborative communications to connect rigorous research with community action. She bridges research and lived experience to make data relevant, actionable, and resonant for community organizations, scholars, funders, and advocates advancing social change.<\/p>\n

With a background in digital media and content production for nonprofits and progressive philanthropy, Gladys joined USC in 2013 as a communications coordinator for the USC Program for Environmental and Regional Equity (PERE) and the Center for the Study of Immigrant Integration (CSII). As the Communications Specialist, she then helped PERE and CSII rebrand into ERI, while also building up a dynamic, multi-platform infrastructure spanning websites, publications, blogs, email campaigns, social media, live and virtual events, videos, and media\/PR.<\/p>\n

Today, as Senior Communications Manager, Gladys combines strategic vision with a communicator\u2019s insight and a collaborative leadership style. She supervises and mentors team members, directs implementation, cultivates media partnerships, and strengthens networks to expand ERI\u2019s reach and influence.<\/p>\n

From grassroots coalitions to national initiatives, her career has consistently centered on equity and inclusion. As the founder and creative director of a social impact communications consultancy, Gladys has advised and supported social sector clients nationwide to expand their reach and strengthen their comms impacts. Her previous work includes staff roles at Asian Americans\/Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy, the National Gender and Equity Campaign, and the Partnership for Immigrant Leadership and Action. She also completed a national mentorship program for nonprofit communications directors, sharpening her ability to lead, mentor, and influence at both organizational and sector levels.<\/p>\n

As an alumna of Boston College (Communications, Fine Art, and Cultural Diversity Studies), Gladys draws on her lived experience as a first-generation immigrant to champion disability justice, cultural equity, and inclusive solidarity movements. She actively volunteers with intersectional communications networks and cultural activists.
