New mass spectrometer in Stott Lab

Ready for research – Stott’s labs installs a new mass spectrometer

Stott’s lab has successfully installed a new Nu instrument– a dual inlet isotope ratio mass spectrometer. The newest mass spec can measure stable isotopes of C, N, O, S and H.

This instrument can measure clumped isotopes, making it possible to pursue new types of environmental research. The group is currently calibrating the instrument for very small sample sizes and establishing the sensitivity and reproducibility.

Thanks to NSF, USC Dornsife, and Nu Instruments for making this possible!
