Andrew W. Mellon Humanities in a Digital World Ph.D. Fellowships at USC
Fellowship Details and Eligibility
The USC Humanities in a Digital World Program is pleased to announce competitions for two Ph.D. fellowships in digital humanities for the two-year term of 2022-2024. The competition is open to USC graduate students in Dornsife College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences or the School of Cinematic Arts who will be ABD by August 19, 2022. The fellowship will support graduate students who are in years three to six of their graduate school program during the two-year fellowship term.
The USC Humanities in a Digital World Program aims to explore how humanities scholarship can evolve through consideration of the meaning of humanities research in an increasingly digital world. A key component of the program is the required three-week summer boot camp in which each Ph.D. fellow will participate in training in digital skills, including GIS, data visualization, digital rhetoric, meta-data creation, and Scalar publishing.
The fellowship stipend for the first year of the fellowship in 2022-2023 will be $36,553. Fellows will have the opportunity to submit applications for funding for approved digitization projects. They also will be able to apply to teach one of the small undergraduate tutorials offered each summer.
