Rev. Mark Whitlock, executive director of the Cecil Murray Center for Community Engagement, hosted an interfaith prayer service for the victims of the Easter terrorist attack in Pakistan at his church in Orange County.<\/p>\n

Newport-Mesa Interfaith Council organized the event at Christ Our Redeemer African Methodist Episcopal Church in Irvine. NBC News<\/a> and the Orange County Register<\/a> both covered the event in the context of safety concerns for attacks at houses of worship.<\/p>\n

“That which took place in Pakistan could have easily taken place here in Orange County,” Whitlock told the Register. “Martin Luther King Jr. says if there’s injustice anywhere, it’s a threat to justice everywhere. So the faith community comes and we deal with social justice in the face of social pain.”<\/p>\n
