Divisions about the political and cultural application of evangelical faith principle are playing out at evangelical colleges across the country. The Los Angeles Times<\/a><\/em> covered how those divisions are playing out at Biola University in La Mirada, California. CRCC’s Richard Flory, who has studied and written about evangelical higher education and the religious beliefs and practices of emerging adults, provided the reporter with extensive background and context for the story. The piece quotes him:<\/p>\n

The tension [within Biola], said Richard Flory, executive director of the USC Center for Religion and Civic Culture, \u201chelps us read what the future of evangelicalism in America might look like.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The story concludes with a group called the St. Thomas Collective, which allows students to explore their questions and doubts about their faith in a safe place.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the community that Biola should be trying to hold on to,\u201d USC\u2019s Flory said. \u201cMost young people don\u2019t care about religion, but if you have young people trying to grapple with their faith \u2014 so they can make sense of it, given the world they experience \u2014 you should listen to them.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
