KALW\u2019s The Spiritual Edge announces the launch of a new podcast, with stories of our collective reality, injected with a dash of hope.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The first season of The Spiritual Edge podcast brings us intimate profiles of activists and humanitarians challenging the status quo. Season 1, called “Sacred Steps,” was made in collaboration with the USC Center for Religion and Civic Culture (CRCC).<\/p>\n

From a COVID ward in the US to the conflict between Israel and Palestine, each podcast episode connects us to the struggles and hopes of individuals who are giving everything for the wellbeing of others.<\/p>\n

The profiles are part of CRCC’s global project on engaged spirituality<\/a>, which seeks to define the category of “spiritual exemplars.”<\/p>\n

\u201cOur team of journalists and researchers have collected stories of humanitarians from across the globe to explore the idea that religion can both motivate and sustain their work,\u201d says Donald Miller, lead researcher the project. \u201cNow we are excited to share these inspiring stories of real people serving on the front lines addressing some of the most challenging problems in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

For the Sacred Steps series, The Spiritual Edge worked with a team of award-winning reporters to craft high-quality, sound-rich radio documentaries. These stories take listeners from the Arctic to the US\/Mexico border\u2014as well as into the inner world of their subjects.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are living through difficult times. These compelling stories document how people are seeking answers\u2014sometimes without resolution,\u201d says Judy Silber, executive producer of The Spiritual Edge<\/a>. \u201cIn my experience, faith and spiritual beliefs can offer an otherwise hidden window into people\u2019s lives and how they think.\u201d<\/p>\n
