She has conducted extensive research with infants, children and adolescents to examine the intersections between musical participation, child and youth development, cognition, culture, and wellness. A Brazilian native, Beatriz identifies with the Latin American communities of Southern California. Her research focuses largely on the musical experiences of Latino and Latin American children and their families, in the home, at schools and in communities. Beatriz is a research fellow at USC\u2019s Brain &amp; Creativity Institute and collaborates regularly with colleagues from various fields in Brazil, Portugal, Spain, UK, USA, and Hong Kong. Her research has appeared in the Journal of Cross-Cultural Psychology, Journal of Research in Music Education, Music &amp; Science, Proceedings of the New York Academy of Sciences, and Psychology of Music. She is also a co-editor of the \u201cRoutledge Companion to Interdisciplinary Studies in Singing \u2013 Volume 1 (Development), \u201cMusic in Early Childhood: Multi-disciplinary Perspectives and Inter-disciplinary Exchanges (Springer),\u201d and \u201cChildren\u2019s Home Musical Experiences Across the World\u201d (Indiana University Press). A violinist by training, Beatriz is a former early childhood and elementary music educator. &quot;}\" data-sheets-userformat=\"{&quot;2&quot;:769,&quot;3&quot;:{&quot;1&quot;:0},&quot;11&quot;:4,&quot;12&quot;:0}\">Adam Knight Gilbert, musicology, recorder and historical double reeds, is one of the premier international players of the Renaissance shawm. He grew up in Columbia, South Carolina. The first graduate of the Early Music program at the Mannes College of Music in New York City, he has performed as a member of New York\u2019s Ensemble for Early Music, the Waverly Consort and Piffaro, the Renaissance Band. He has appeared with ensembles such as Calliope, ARTEK, New York Cornet and Sackbut Ensemble, The Court Dance Company of New York, the Folger Consort, Concert Royal, The Bach Ensemble, Chatham Baroque, Newberry Consort, Canto (Colombia) and La Caccia Alta (Belgium) among others. He is also a founding member of ensemble Ciaramella, which performs concerts of fifteenth-century music in the U.S., Israel, and Belgium, and has recorded on the Naxos label. His research specialties include allusion in fifteenth-century song and Mass, pastourelles and their symbolism, improvisation, compositional processes and embellishment from 1400\u20131700.
