AN ITO CENTER SUPPORTED PUBLICATION
The Review of Japanese Culture and Society (RJCS) is an annual, peer-reviewed academic journal devoted to the interdisciplinary study of Japanese culture in a trans-Pacific context. Bringing together scholarship, criticism, and translation, the journal creates a forum for diverse perspectives on Japanese art, literature, design, and society.
Each issue features a guest-edited thematic section that places the work of scholars, artists, critics, and public intellectuals in Japan and beyond into conversation. The journal is particularly committed to introducing important Japanese-language scholarship, literature, and criticism to English-language audiences through translation.
Miya Elise Desjardins, faculty member of the USC Shinso Ito Center for Japanese Religions and Culture, serves as Editor-in-Chief. The Ito Center’s Tomoji Ito Japanese Cultural Research Endowment Fund provides support for the journal as part of its commitment to advancing scholarship and fostering intellectual exchange in the study of Japan.
