Precision Nutrition assumes that the best diet for one individual may look different than the best diet for another, because people have different responses to specific foods and nutrients. Existing apps for meal planning<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> tend to focus on Western diets<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The algorithms <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">we are developing will help to recommend meals that meet the multi-criteria objectives of clinical requirements, dietary restrictions, cost limits, and dietary preferences.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Funding:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Keston Exploratory Research Award to the Information Sciences Institute (PI: A. In a nationally representative survey, we conduct experiments where <\/span><span data-ogsc=\"black\" data-ogsb=\"white\">people choose between two gourmet food gift baskets: one with meat and dairy, and one without. <\/span><span data-ogsc=\"black\" data-ogsb=\"yellow\">We find <\/span><span data-ogsc=\"black\" data-ogsb=\"white\">that few chose the food basket without meat and dairy when it was labelled \u201cvegan\u201d (20%) or \u201cplant-based\u201d (27%), while more than 40% chose this basket when it was labeled \u201chealthy\u201d and\/or \u201csustainable\u201d.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p
