Jeff Greenfield is an award-winning television journalist and author focused on the fields of politics, media, and culture. He served as a senior political correspondent for CBS News from 2007 to 2011, and was a contributor to \u201cCBS Evening News with Katie Couric,\u201d \u201cThe Early Show,\u201d \u201cCBS News Sunday Morning,\u201d and CBSNews.com.<\/p>\n

Greenfield had been a Senior Analyst for CNN from 1998 to 2007. During his time at CNN, he was the lead analyst for its coverage of primaries, conventions, presidential debates, and election night, as well as presidential funerals and Supreme Court nomination hearings.<\/p>\n

Before his time at CNN, Greenfield was a political and media analyst for ABC News, appearing primarily on \u201cNightline\u201d and delivering weekly commentaries for \u201cWorld Sunday News.\u201d He also appeared on \u201cFiring Line\u201d and PBS\u2019 \u201cWe Interrupt This Week.\u201d In addition, Greenfield was the host of the national television series \u201cCEO Exchange.\u201d<\/p>\n

Greenfield is a prolific author whose work has appeared in many publications, including The New York Times Magazine<\/em>, Harper\u2019s<\/em>, and National Lampoon<\/em>. He is the author or co-author of more than a dozen books including The People\u2019s Choice<\/em> (1995), which was a national bestseller and was named by The New York Times<\/em> as one of the notable books of the year. Other Greenfield books include Oh, Waiter! One Order of Crow!: Inside the Strangest Presidential Election Finish in American History<\/em> (2001), Then Everything Changed: Stunning Alternate Histories of American Politics<\/em> (2011), If Kennedy Lived: The First and Second Terms of President John F. Kennedy: An Alternate History<\/em> (2013), and What If . . . Course: Political Media in the United States<\/strong><\/p>\n

This course examined how American presidents, presidential candidates, and prominent political players have used the media to advance their prospects, and how the changing nature of the media has–and has not– changed what these major players say and do, and how they say and do it. Unsurprisingly, political players have turned to whatever tools were at their disposal to argue on their behalf, and to disparage their opponents. A key question that drove this course was: how have the media changed our political life, and how have they not?<\/p>\n

“Having the opportunity to learn from Greenfield has been an enriching experience because we learned so much about the political influence of the media from someone who possesses extensive experience working in the field. My favorite part was the fact that we could pick his brain on just about anything related to strategic political engagement with the media and he always gave substantive answers that were rooted in his experiences.”<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Chloe Gudino, a sophomore majoring in Political Science, said:<\/span><\/p>\n
