He is a 2002 MacArthur Fellow, a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and a fellow of the ACL, the LSA, and AAAS. His trade book &#8220;The Language of Food: A Linguist Reads the Menu&#8221; was an international bestseller and a finalist for the 2015 James Beard Award.
