He retired from Merrill Lynch Wealth Management on July 1st, 2024. At retirement, and after 36 years in the industry, his titles were Wealth Management Advisor, Senior Consultant, Vice President and Senior Portfolio Manager.<\/p>\n<p>Leon earned his BA in Spanish (Leon speaks fluent English and Spanish) in 1980 and his MBA from the USC Marshall School of Business in 1990. Leon maintains his ties to USC through the Cardinal and Gold Scholarship Program and he participates in mentorship programs for USC students.<\/p>\n<p>In 2001, Leon received the Certified Investment Management Analyst\u00ae designation (CIMA\u00ae) awarded by the Investments &amp; Wealth Institute\u2122 (The Institute), taught in conjunction with the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">&#8220;Finance&#8221; as a term is about as broad, vague, and unhelpful as saying &#8220;I work in healthcare.&#8221; It tells you practically nothing. She completed postdoctoral training at the University of Edinburgh before joining Labcorp, a contract research group focused on new drug and vaccine development. She currently leads the reporting and study management group within the immunology department, working alongside her team to plan out studies, design new lab assays, and interpret the data for final reports. Amanda\u2019s career has spanned research into inflammation, wound healing, and liver processes; scientific writing; and outreach\/education.<\/p>\n<p>In the last 20 years, biotechnology has grown exponentially with advances in gene editing, automation, laboratory equipment, and understanding of human diseases. While a career in biotech can be exciting, navigating all of the different options and how to determine what part of this field you want to work in can be daunting.
