You should dedicate quality time to choosing a topic that is compelling and will draw the reader&#8217;s attention.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Please u<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">nderstand that <strong>graduate schools admissions committees are not looking for your whole life story in the Statement of Purpose<\/strong>.\u00a0 They are looking for cues that indicate you will make great student and practitioner.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Make sure to read and fully understand each school\u2019s Statement of Purpose requirement and follow each school\u2019s formatting guidelines exactly.\u00a0 You want to speak directly to what each school is looking for in a successful candidate.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Please do not plan on using the same exact personal statement for each school<\/strong>&#8211; this approach will not benefit you in the long run.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/div>\n      \n      \n    <\/div>\n  \n      <ul>\n              <li>\n          <button type=\"button\" class=\"accordion-trigger \" id=\"heading-1-1-pNSG9fyjkd\" aria-controls=\"section-1-1-pNSG9fyjkd\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-disabled=\"false\">\n                          <span class=\"item-title\">Outlining process<\/span>\n            \n                      <\/button>\n\n          <div id=\"section-1-1-pNSG9fyjkd\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"heading-1-1-pNSG9fyjkd\" class=\"accordion-panel\">\n\n                            \n    \n\n\n\n\n\n\n<div\n  class=\"cc--component-container cc--rich-text \"\n\n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  >\n  <div class=\"c--component c--rich-text\"\n    \n      >\n\n    \n      \n<div class=\"f--field f--wysiwyg\">\n\n    \n  <p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Writing an outline of what you would like to share in your\u00a0 statement is an efficient way to ensure you are meeting all the points you want to in your statement.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Take a <strong>step back and reflect on your life\u2019s challenges<\/strong> and how these contribute to where you are today in your life.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Explore what led to your decision to pursue an advanced degree<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Articulate how the degree will help you achieve individual or professional goals<\/strong>.\u00a0 Reflect on why are you prepared for, passionate about, and a fit for this program\/field. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>What specifically do you like about this program<\/strong>? What are your future career interests\/goals? How will this program help you attain your goals?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">NOTE: Resist the temptation of mention your GPA or test scores &#8211; you are much more than your grades and test scores! great student for the program you are applying to, ask if they see any gaps in what you shared, what could be be developed a little more, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For
