Browning is the Frank Porter Graham Professor Emeritus of History at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His research concerns the decision-making and policy-making behind the Nazi Final Solution, analyzed in his books\u202f<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">The Final Solution and the German Foreign Office<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u202f(1978),\u202f<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">Fateful Months\u202f: Essays on the Emergence of the Final Solution<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u202f(1985),\u202f<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">Ordinary Men: Reserve Police Battalion 101 and\u202fthe Final Solution in Poland<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u202f(1992),\u202f<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">The Path to Genocide: Essays on Launching the Final Solution<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"none\">(1992) and\u202f<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">The Origins of the Final Solution: The Evolution of Nazi Jewish Policy, September 1939\u2013March 1942\u202f<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"none\">(2004).<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Professor Browning is one of the world\u2019s most renowned Holocaust scholars and a proponent of the \u201cmoderate functionalist\u201d school of thought in the\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">origins of the Holocaust debate<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">.
