Her dissertation investigates Jewish responses and survival strategies during the Holocaust in the Kharkiv Oblast in Eastern Ukraine. Drawing on testimonies and oral history interviews in Ukrainian and Russian languages, the project explores Jewish experiences through the lenses of families, women, and children. Galyna\u2019s research has been supported by grants, including the 2023-2024 Sosland Foundation Fellowship at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM), the Conny Kristel Fellowship of the European Holocaust Research Infrastructure (EHRI), the Yad Vashem Research Scholarship for PhD Students, and the European Association of Jewish Studies (EAJS) grant. Prior to entering the PhD program, Galyna obtained a BA and MA degrees in Philology from Karazin Kharkiv National University, as well as an MA in Ethnic and Migration Studies from Link\u00f6ping University. During her time as a Virtual Greenberg Fellow at the USC Dornsife Center for Advanced Genocide Research, Galyna will analyze USC Shoah Foundation VHA testimonies from Holocaust survivors and rescuers in the Kharkiv region to shed light on Jewish personal experiences, survival patterns, family dynamics, gender perspectives, and the roles of social networks and intermarriages during the Shoah. Galyna\u2019s research aims to enhance the ongoing scholarly dialogue concerning the history of the Holocaust and World War II, illuminating the complexities and geographical nuances of both Jewish
