\n Alexia Orengo-Green\n <\/h2>\n\n\n<\/div>\n \n \n

\n

Alexia M. Orengo Green is a fourth-year doctoral student in the Van Hunnick History Department at the University of Southern California. Her research interests include the Holocaust, children, migration, and the history of emotions. Her dissertation, tentatively titled, “Into the Unknown: Jewish Children’s Migration to Latin America During the Holocaust,” focuses on the Jewish children who with or without their parents escaped Nazi Germany and its territories for Latin America, specifically Argentina and Puerto Rico. In her time at USC, Alexia has completed a Collaborative Specialization in Jewish Studies. She has also been awarded several fellowships for international research in countries such as Germany, Poland, the United Kingdom, Puerto Rico, and Argentina. In Fall 2024, Alexia will be the 2024 Junior Fellow at the Center for Holocaust Studies, a joint fellowship between the Leibniz Institute for Contemporary History and the USHMM. In 2021, Alexia graduated from New York University with a Masters in Public History. While at NYU, she participated in an Asylum Digital Humanities Laboratory in which she researched immigration and asylum policies in the United States to create the “Asylum in Crisis” course and digital project. Alexia\u2019s MA capstone project, \u201cA New Look at Teaching the Holocaust: A Teacher\u2019s Guide to Expanding the Holocaust Narrative Beyond Anne Frank,\u201d provided resources and easy modifications teachers can apply in their lesson plans. In 2019, Alexia graduated from Dickinson College with a dual degree in Archaeology and History.<\/p>\n
