Any student in good standing, with at least one USC Dornsife major, may apply for a research stipend of up to $3000 to support a summer research project of their choosing. This stipend may be used to pay for travel, equipment, living expenses, fees, or other costs related to the research effort. All full-time USC faculty engaged in research are eligible to serve as faculty supervisors. Two types of scholarship awards are available. Merit scholarships range in amount up to $5000. Travel awards range in amount up to $2500. Travel awards must be used for overseas travel programs sponsored by USC Dornsife. Applicants for the awards must be full-time undergraduate students at the University of Southern California for the next academic year with a major in the Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences, with a junior or senior standing during the year of scholarship. Students must have a minimum 3.5 grade point average on their cumulative academic work at USC. Participation in the program is limited to students considering graduate study towards a Ph.D. in Mellon-supported fields. Students must be pursuing a major or minor in a Mellon-approved field of study and have interest in pursuing an academic career in a Mellon-designated field of study. Students must have a demonstrated commitment to increasing opportunities for underrepresented populations, breaking down stereotypes, increasing cross-racial and ethnic understanding, and enabling others to better understand persons of different races and ethnicities. Discovery Scholar designees will graduate from USC with at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA and will have completed a significant senior project. Discovery Scholars will receive a medallion to wear at graduation, have their designation noted on their final transcript from the University, and may be eligible for a $10,000 prize toward graduate study or other approved post-graduate endeavors. Applications and supplemental materials must be submitted by one of two deadlines in order to be considered for the Discovery Scholars Designation. Renaissance Scholars will receive a medallion to wear at graduation, have their designation noted on their final transcript from the University, and may be eligible for a $10,000 prize toward graduate study. Certification deadline for graduating seniors is December 31. Global Scholars will receive a medallion to wear at graduation, have their designation noted on their final transcript from the University, and may be eligible for a $10,000 prize toward graduate study. Applications and supplemental materials must be submitted by one of two deadlines in order to be considered for the Global Scholars Designation. The Scholarship Fund provides $1000 each to help pay expenses associated with participation in an archaeological field work project (minimum stay one month\/4 weeks). The scholarship is open to students who have begun their junior year of undergraduate studies at the time of application and have not yet completed their first year of graduate school at a college or university in the United States or Canada. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and must not have previously participated in archaeological field work of any kind. Gilman International Scholarship Program offers awards for undergraduate study abroad. Over 2,900 scholarships of up to $5000 will be awarded this academic year for U.S. citizen undergraduates to study abroad. Award amounts will vary depending on the length of study and student need with the average award being approximately $4000. The program is open to all U.S. citizen undergraduates, in good academic standing, who meet the following criteria. The applicant must be receiving a Federal Pell Grant or provide proof that he\/she will be receiving a Pell Grant at the time of application or during the term of his\/her study abroad program or internship. The applicant is applying to or has been accepted into a study abroad program or internship eligible for credit by the student&#8217;s accredited institution of higher education in the U.S. The applicant is studying or interning abroad for at least four weeks in one country. Programs going to more than one country are eligible if the student will be in one country for at least four consecutive weeks.
