Initial readings and discussions at USC will be augmented by a travel component for intensive fieldwork on these issues in Ireland and Northern Ireland. From their hands-on field research, students will learn how academic knowledge of languages both stems from everyday life, and also influences it, as they examine a critical case study in revitalization movements of indigenous and minority languages.<\/p>\n<p>Two-week travel component to Ireland\/Northern Ireland. Backpacking through Portugal and Spain, focused reflection groups will shape students\u2019 independent research project walking a segment of the Camino de Santiago. Students will gain a background in cultural anthropology while learning critical observation skills, how to prepare and conduct interviews, survey techniques, and qualitative data analysis.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, please contact Professor\u00a0<a title=\"Professor Erin P.
