The Getty Center, located in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles, the center is one of two locations of the J. Paul Getty Museum and draws 1.8 million visitors annually. The center branch of the museum features pre-20th-century European paintings, drawings, illuminated manuscripts, sculpture, and decorative arts; and photographs from the 1830s through present day from all over the world.<\/sup>\u00a0In addition, the museum’s collection at the center includes outdoor sculpture displayed on terraces and in gardens and the large Central Garden designed by\u00a0Robert Irwin. Among the artworks on display is the\u00a0Vincent van Gogh\u00a0painting\u00a0Irises<\/i>.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Getty Villa\u00a0is at the easterly end of the Malibu coast in the\u00a0Pacific Palisades\u00a0neighborhood of\u00a0Los Angeles, California, United States.<\/sup>\u00a0One of two campuses of the\u00a0J. Paul Getty Museum, the Getty Villa is an educational center and museum dedicated to the study of the arts and\u00a0cultures\u00a0of\u00a0ancient Greece,\u00a0Rome, and\u00a0Etruria. The collection has 44,000 Greek, Roman, and Etruscan antiquities dating from 6,500 BC to 400 A.D., including the Lansdowne Heracles\u00a0and the\u00a0Victorious Youth. The UCLA\/Getty Master’s Program in Archaeological and Ethnographic Conservation is housed on this campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n\n <\/div>\n \n

The Huntington Library, Art Museum and Botanical Gardens, known as\u00a0The Huntington,<\/sup>\u00a0is a collections-based educational and research institution established by\u00a0Henry E. Huntington\u00a0(1850\u20131927) and\u00a0Arabella Huntington\u00a0(c.1851\u20131924) in\u00a0San Marino, California,\u00a0United States. In addition to the library, the institution houses an extensive art collection with a focus on eighteenth- and nineteenth-century\u00a0European art\u00a0and seventeenth- to mid-twentieth century\u00a0American art. The Norton Simon collections include:\u00a0 European\u00a0paintings,\u00a0sculptures, and\u00a0tapestries;\u00a0Asian\u00a0sculptures, paintings, and\u00a0woodblock prints. Outside sculptures surround the museum, with notable\u00a0Rodin\u00a0sculptures near its entrance and other sculptures along\u00a0Colorado Boulevard and in a landscape setting around a large pond.\u00a0<\/sup> The museum contains the Norton Simon Theater which shows film programs daily, and hosts lectures, symposia, and dance and musical performances year-round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n\n <\/div>\n \n

LACMA is the\u00a0largest\u00a0art museum in the western United States. It attracts nearly a million visitors annually.<\/sup>\u00a0It holds more than 150,000 works spanning the history of art from ancient times to the present. The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles\u00a0(MOCA) is a contemporary art\u00a0museum\u00a0with two locations in greater\u00a0Los Angeles, California. The main branch is located on Grand Avenue in\u00a0Downtown Los Angeles, near the\u00a0Walt Disney Concert Hall. MOCA’s original space, initially intended as a “temporary” exhibit space while the main facility was built, is now known as the Geffen Contemporary, in the\u00a0Little Tokyo\u00a0district of downtown Los Angeles. Between 2000 and 2019, it operated a satellite facility at the\u00a0Pacific Design Center\u00a0facility in\u00a0West Hollywood.<\/sup><\/p>\n

The\u00a0museum\u00a0is named for philanthropists\u00a0Eli\u00a0and\u00a0Edythe Broad, who financed the $140 million building that houses the Broad art collections.<\/sup>\u00a0It offers free general admission to its permanent collection galleries.<\/sup>\u00a0However, not all of its events are free and admission prices may vary by exhibit and or by event. Their mission statement is “to research, collect, preserve, and interpret for public enrichment the history, art and culture of African Americans with an emphasis on California and the western United States.”<\/sup><\/p>\n

The\u00a0Lucas Museum of Narrative Art\u00a0is a museum founded by filmmaker\u00a0George Lucas\u00a0and his wife, businesswoman\u00a0Mellody Hobson. Once completed, the museum will hold all forms of visual storytelling, including painting, photography, sculpture, illustration, comic art, performance, and video. It is under construction in\u00a0Exposition Park\u00a0in\u00a0Los Angeles,\u00a0California. The museum is expected to open in 2025.<\/p>\n
