Students begin their Dornsife journey with an FYA advisor based on their declared major and transition to their cluster advising team upon completion of their first year at USC. More information about First-Year Advising can be found <strong><u><a href=\"https:\/\/dornsife.usc.edu\/advising\/first-year-advising2\/\" data-linkindex=\"0\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\">here<\/a><\/u><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All <\/span><b>incoming transfer students and continuing students<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, U2 through graduation, are supported by a Cluster Advising Case Team. Be sure to check it regularly!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2611\ufe0f<\/span><strong>Sign up for your Welcome Trojans registration date with <\/strong><strong><u><a href=\"https:\/\/orientation.usc.edu\/\" data-linkindex=\"1\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\">USC Orientation Programs. <\/a><\/u><\/strong>This date determines your course registration date for your Welcome Trojans experience.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2611\ufe0f<\/span><strong>Submit your Pre-Advisement Worksheet on <u><a href=\"https:\/\/brightspace.usc.edu\/\" data-linkindex=\"2\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\">Brightspace<\/a><\/u>.\u00a0 <\/strong><em>Access to Brightspace will be given May 14th.<\/em>\u00a0Information from this worksheet as well as from your placement exam results, Transfer Credit Report, and selected major will be used to create a first-semester course plan with recommended courses.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2611\ufe0f<\/span><b>Take your math and chemistry placement exams, <\/b><b><i>if required. <\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These online exams, accessible on <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/brightspace.usc.edu\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brightspace<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, should be taken at least ten (10) business days prior to your course registration date.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2611\ufe0f<\/span><b>Request your foreign language placement. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you plan to continue a language at USC to satisfy your <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/dornsife.usc.edu\/languages\/foreign-language-requirement\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dornsife Foreign Language requirement<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, you will need to request placement from the USC Language Center. All times are local Los Angeles time in the Pacific time zone. Reserve your event in <a href=\"https:\/\/brightspace.usc.edu\/d2l\/le\/content\/291191\/Home\">Brightspace<\/a>\u00a0under\u00a0the Dornsife folder.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2611\ufe0f<\/span><strong>Attend your group advising session. <\/strong>As part of your Welcome Trojans orientation, you will meet with an academic advisor to discuss course selection and registration. This meeting is mandatory and must be completed prior to course registration.
