The Sixth Annual Joint GLS Symposium continued a tradition started by Stanford University and Dominican University of California in 2007 as a way to create a sense of academic community among our GLS programs through a weekend of intellectual and social interaction. Since 2008, the participating programs have expanded to include other west coast GLS programs and Maastricht University in the Netherlands.
The USC Master of Liberal Studies Program, together with the USC MLS Student Association, welcomed GLS students, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends to the Sixth Annual GLS Symposium, at an opening reception on Friday, June 22, 2012, 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. in the Galleria of The Radisson Midtown Hotel at USC.
The program featured student presentations and opportunities to talk with colleagues from other schools. The symposium sessions on Saturday, June 23 and Sunday, June 24, 2012 took place in USC's new award-winning Ronald Tutor Campus Center.
In his opening remarks, USC Professor Jim Kincaid, chair of the USC MLS Faculty Board, celebrated the childlike capacity for curiosity, and the hopes that, as participants in GLS programs, we, too, would keep the game of learning going, and never let it end. Read more about the symposium.
