USC Wrigley Institute Environmental Microbiology Spring Break Program

March 3-7, 2014 (Mon-Fri)

The USC Wrigley Institute for Environmental Studies is offering an Environmental Microbiology program for ATHENIANS at the USC Wrigley Marine Science Center on Catalina Island. This 5-day trip is part of a 1-unit Environmental Microbiology course at MSMC and will include:

  • 1-day oceanographic research training cruise to characterize microbial communities and environmental variability near Catalina

  • Microscopy, culture work, and molecular applications to quantify and characterize microbes

The week will also include outdoor activities like snorkeling, kayaking, and hiking to explore local marine and terrestrial environments. You’ll get first-hand experience in environmental microbiology and find out that science is not all about test tubes and safety goggles.

$400, all inclusive • Space is limited to the first 16 students who register. Register TODAY!
