Acknowledgments
The University of Southern California operates the Wrigley Marine Science Center to further the goals of the USC Wrigley Institute for Environmental Studies and as a service to the academic community. USC pays for most of the costs of operating the facility through a combination of funds from the College of Letters, Arts and Sciences and the generosity of our many donors. We are particularly indebted to the Wrigley family for their generous support.
In addition to the general subsidies, USC also offers small grants and graduate internships that can cover some more of the costs for both USC and non-USC students and faculty. Please contact Linda Duguay at duguay@usc.edu about the graduate internships and grants.
Generally, our facilities are only available to scientists, educators and guests who have a real connection to the mission of the Wrigley Institute or to the academic mission of USC. On occasion, we allow other "non-mission" groups to rent our facilities at higher rates than those listed below. This is always on a space-available basis, generally with shorter lead times than our core groups.
In summer 2008, we opened the Boone Center for Science and Environmental Leadership at the USC Wrigley Marine Science Center. The Boone Center provides as many as 20 very comfortable rooms, in cottages and apartments, which are perfect for small retreats, meetings, courses and other intensive programs. We also offer higher levels of food service and program support for groups that use the Boone Center. We also continue to offer standard dorm rooms and apartments at lower rates for the budget-conscious scientist and educator. These two types of accommodations can also be mixed.
