On May, 9, 2012, President Obama made history and became the first sitting president in United States history to support same sex marriage. At this discussion, Ange-Marie Hancock will analyze how Obama’s support has changed the overall debate for marriage equality. Participants will also learn the challenges and rewards of Obama’s proclamation on his reelection campaign especially in battleground states and his overall approval ratings. Hancock is an Associate Professor of Political Science and Gender Students with the Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences.
