Young Scientists Program Teaching Assistant: Position: Closed
JEP is searching for six students - undergraduate or graduate - with at least one year to commit to the Young Scientistprogram beginning fall 2011. The YSP Teaching Assistants implement hands-on science lessons to fourth and fifth grade classrooms at the five schools served by the USC ReadersPLUS program (Weemes Elementary, Vermont Elementary, Norwood Elementary, 32nd Street USC MaST, and Foshay Learning Center. In presenting engaging and interactive science labs, TAs support teachers and students in reaching the goal of implementing effective science instruction into their classrooms. The objective is that the science labs at these schools will serve as a model for other school sites and will lead to increased science activities in all of USC’s Family of Schools.
Skirball Public Service Internship: Position: Open
The Skirball Public Service Internship Program is designed to give undergraduate JEP students a deeper understanding of non-profits and other community-based organizations. The program provides funding for students to build on their service-learning experiences by becoming 25%- or 50%-time interns at a community-based organization – ideally the same organization at which they served as a service-learning student. The internships will vary depending on the needs of the organization, but most will involve helping the organizations with fund-raising, grant-writing, program development, or other activities that are core to the agency’s operations. USC ReadersPlus: Employment Application
USC ReadersPlus is a literacy and math tutoring program under the USC Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences. The program is administered by the Joint Educational Project and funded in part through the Good Neighbor's Campaign. Hiring for the upcoming semester applications are due by the second week of each semester.
