From Tok Thompson, Chair of Undergraduate Academic Programs Caucus
The Undergraduate Academic Programs Caucus seeks to link the Dornsife Faculty with the Dornsife Administration in the pursuit of improving undergraduate learning. Deans and Vice Deans relay concerns and initiatives through the Caucus to the faculty council, and vice-versa. The Caucus meets with vice-deans on a one-to-one, consultative basis, as well as attending larger events that focus on undergraduate academic programs, such as the Undergraduate Directors meetings.
There are many aspects to Undergraduate Academic programs that reach beyond the traditional classroom, including overseas studies, special study options, general education requirements, JEP, and many more. One successful recent initiative included attaining a retention rate of over 90% for the Dornsife undergraduates, a push that required organization and coordination among many different groups.
Faculty with ideas, questions, or concerns regarding undergraduate academic programs that they would like to see addressed by the administration are encouraged to contact the Caucus chair, Tok Thompson.
