Orthopedic Surgery, Anesthesia Dept., Shadow- MRI/CAT Scans, Labor and Delivery
Emergency Room- 1 year commitment, must be 21 years of age
Recovery Room- Relay pt information, assist nurses, track pt.'s in/out, pt interaction

King / Drew Medical Center

The hospital gives a most realistic approach to medicine in an urban setting.

Total Time:
Hours of Operation: Monday-Sunday, 8 a.m.-10 p.m.
Duties: Emergency Room
Operating Room- view surgical procedures
Inpatient Wards- assist with feeding, preparing beds, answering call lights, delivering lab specimen, analyze lab results, transport patients Outpatient Clinics- make appts, assemble charts, analyze labs, setup exam rooms, stock supplies, escort patients
Child Care Center- register, setup and supervise activities with children, care for infants
Medical Records/Chart Files- sort and file correspondence, photo-copy, transport charts and files
X-Ray- file films, log films, transport patients, distribute reports
Location: 110-105 E, Exit Wilmington (15-20 minutes from USC)

St. Vincent's Hospital

A world-renowned transplant center. Although there is no hands on, observation can be extremely beneficial. There is high opportunity for specialized fields.
Time/Wk: 4-10 hours *100 hour commitment

Specialized fields to work with doctor in office (no pt interaction)- Nuclear Medicine, Heart, Cancer, Spine, Radiology

Shriners Hospital For Children

Dedicated to free treatment of all people until age 21, Shriner's focus on orthopedics and burns. It is a "live-in" hospital where patients dress in normal clothes, attend school, and receive treatments at the facility.
Time/Wk: 4 hours
Total Time: 100 hours
Hours of Operation: Monday-Sunday, 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
Duties: Outpatient Department- bilingual is a plus, heavy pt interaction
Nursing Unit- care for younger patients, setup and supervise activities
Location: 3160 Geneva Street, about 15 minutes by car

Queen of Angels / Hollywood Presbterian

Time/Wk: 4 hours
Total Time: 50 hours
Hours of Operation: Monday-Friday 8:30-6:00
Duties: Nursery- feed babies/ transport/ change diapers/ clerical, ER, ICU, Recovery Rooms
Location: 1300 N. Vermont Avenue, about 15 minutes from campus

UMMA Free Clinic

Volunteers are central to operating the core of the clinic and will experience a hands on approach to community medicine.
Time/Wk: 4 hours
Total Time: 75 hours
Hours of Operation: Tuesday-Friday (9:00-12:30, 12:30-5:00), Saturday (9-1:00)
Duties: Shadow medical students, Label medicines- terminology, front office mechanics: bk keeping, pt intake/ flow, volunteers are core to clinic operation
