Religion 495: Field Methods in Archaeology: Discovering Ancient Empire

Summer in Turkey
Instructor: Lynn Swartz-Dodd
Dates: June 2012

This will be a a 4 week, 4 credit “problem based” learning experience in June, 2012 in Turkey with travel tours to study and explore amazing ancient sites and contributions by all students to conduct real research. We will be embarking on a tour in addition to doing research, as part of the study and learning, to create a context for the work students will do in the Hatay region of Turkey -- near Antakya.

UNLIKE OTHER SUMMER COURSES, this one has an EARLY application requirement because of Turkish government regulations. All interested students have to express their interest to me BY THANKSGIVING, if you want the option to participate in the summer program.

Click here for the program flyer.  Deadlne to submit application is November 18, 2011

Program Costs:

Tuition: $5680

Flights: $1800 (as of 10/27/11)

Additional expenses: $1050*

Total: $8530

*Additional expenses include estimated costs for accommodations, visa fees, cultural excursions, trips, and personal expenses (which can vary greatly from student to student).
