2012-2013 Non-Tenure-Track Teaching Positions
The Department of Political Science in the Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences at the University of Southern California may have one or more non-tenure-track faculty openings in the coming 12 months for teaching positions, full-time or part-time. Applicants should have a PhD.
We are currently seeking candidates who specialize in Comparative Politics; American Politics; Law and Public Policy; and Political Thought. New applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis.
Possible courses in the areas of:
American Politics
335: Political Parties, Campaigns, and Elections - Organization and function of political parties, nominations and elections, strategy and tactics of campaigning, professional candidate management finance, political machines, voting behavior.
423: Presidents and the Presidency - Presidential coalition; sources of presidential power; recent leadership styles; decisionmaking within the presidency.
428: Latino Politics - Analysis of the historic and contemporary roles of Latinos in the American political system; patterns of political participation and representation are examined.
Comparative Politics
358: Politics of Sub-Sahara Africa - Theories of development and nation-building; revolutionary and evolutionary modernization; role of history, culture, socioeconomic conditions in affecting political structures and functions.
Law and Public Policy
440: Comparative Law and the Judicial Process - Analysis of courts in comparative perspective; judicial decision-making and development of public policy through the judicial process; theories of law and jurisprudence.
452: Critical Issues in Law and Public Policy - Intensive examination of special topics in the field of law and public policy.
Qualifications: Must have completed PhD in a relevant field and demonstrated teaching excellence in the subject area.
