California's Congressional District 33:
Demographic Sketch

The demographic sketch for California's 33rd Congressional District was done in response to a request from the office of the Honorable Karen Bass. The Congresswoman's office sought the research assistance of PERE to better understand the district's population and unique demographic character. With support from the Ford Foundation, PERE collected and mapped recent demographic information and change over time to provide a detailed profile of the district and help assess the implications of constituency change. The specific characteristics of the emerging Latino and immigrant populations were examined in comparison to other groups within the district. The sketch further illustrates the significance and the diverse composition of the district's various groups so that the Congresswoman's office can better serve and outreach effectively to meet constituency interests.
