Instructions for Nominating Graduate Assistants for the General Education Award

Instructions for Nominating Graduate Assistants for the General Education Teaching Award

Every year, the Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences recognizes distinguished teaching in the General Education Program with four awards for graduate assistants (in addition to eight prizes for College faculty, awarded separately). Candidates for the graduate assistant awards must have served as writing instructors, discussion group leaders, or laboratory instructors in General Education classes during the current academic year. Would you please review the graduate assistants in your department who were assigned to General Education courses last year and nominate one person who has served as an outstanding discussion group leader or laboratory instructor?

In selecting a candidate, please consider his or her quantitative student evaluations, as well as the comments made by students, the materials distributed in the relevant sections, and the grading. A copy of these data should accompany your letter of nomination. Each General Education Graduate Assistant Award includes a $1000 honorarium. Nominations should be sent to the General Education office (at CAS 200, mc 0153).
