Undergraduate Awards

Senior Award

The Senior Award is given to graduating seniors who have maintained a high all-around grade point average (3.0 or higher) while participating in service activities at the departmental, university or community level and/or in research activities in faculty labs. Service activities may include, but are not limited to, distinguished leadership in and/or positive contributions to professional, academic or community service organizations. These students have maintained high academic standards while devoting extensive time and energy in service to the university and surrounding community. The Senior Award is presented at the Kinesiology Department’s annual Commencement Luncheon on Commencement Day. (Selected by the Award Committee of the Department of Kinesiology)

Best Physiology Presentation Award (EXSC 407b lab)

Established in 2000, this award is given to the undergraduate team with the most outstanding team research project, as determined by faculty and students. Student teams design, implement, and present the findings of an exercise physiology research project. The award is presented during the last lecture of the class, EXSC 407bL, now the new EXSC 406L.

Scholarships

Charlotte W. Anderson Scholarship

The Charlotte W. Anderson Scholarship is awarded to promising undergraduates in the Department of Kinesiology who demonstrate acute financial need and intend to pursue a career in physical or occupational therapy. The award is given to a sophomore or junior who has maintained a high all-around grade point average (3.0 or higher) while participating in service activities that reflect an interest in physical or occupational therapy. Service activities may include, but are not limited to, volunteer work as a PT assistant in a physical therapy clinic or in a hospital setting and/or as an athletic trainer for high school or collegiate athletics. These students maintain high academic standards while devoting time and energy to the physical/occupational therapy field. (Selected by the Award Committee of the Department of Kinesiology)

International Fellowships

Each year, USC sponsors applications from qualified undergraduate students for competitive international fellowships including Rhodes (Oxford University), Mitchell (Ireland) and Luce (Asia). Fellowship awards may include one to three years of study or internship, tuition and fees, a moderate allowance and travel expenses.
