Student Opportunities for Academic Research (SOAR)
The SOAR program provides funding to undergraduates for participation as a research assistant in a faculty member’s project, or who wish to pursue a scholarly research project of their own choosing (sponsored and supervised by a faculty member). SOAR allows all students to be mentored one-on-one by USC faculty, and introduces students early in their academic careers to the process of serious scholarly inquiry. SOAR is for research during the fall and spring semesters of the academic year. Funding applications are accepted throughout the academic year.

Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF)
As part of USC College's commitment to supporting undergraduate research in collaboration with USC faculty in academic and research institutions across the world, the Office of the College Dean announces a new summer research program. Any student in good standing and with a College major may apply for a research stipend of up to $3,000 to support a summer research project. This stipend may be used to pay for travel, equipment, living expenses or fees related to the research effort. Students participating in one of the College's "Problems Without Passports" research courses may use these funds for tuition.

WiSE Undergraduate Research Grants
USC’s Women in Science and Engineering (WiSE) Program seeks to increase the number of women in tenure-track and tenured faculty positions and create a supportive environment that fosters successful career development of both women and men. To that end, WiSE has developed the following programs to help undergraduate and graduate students develop successful careers in health-related fields and to encourage women to continue their academic development at USC.
In an effort to familiarize students with laboratory research and link them with a mentor early on, WiSE offers undergraduate grants supporting both summer and academic year research.
