The USC Catalina Hyperbaric Chamber relies heavily on contributions in order to continue operating. Over 50% of it’s operating budget must be raised each year.

As part of USC, the Chamber falls under USC’s non-profit 501(c)(3) status, FIC 95-1642394, CGEC ONAF5. There are many ways in which you can help to support the USC Catalina Hyperbaric Chamber. Although monetary donations make up the majority of the gifts we receive, donations of needed equipment, supplies, and services are also welcome. Many diving companies support the Chamber by graciously donating items for our annual Chamber Day Raffle. Some of the ways you can support the USC Catalina Hyperbaric Chamber are listed below.

  • People stand on the pier of Big Fishmen Cove waiting to board a boat. Our Annual Chamber Day/Evening Fundraiser is our largest fund raising event of the year. It is also the largest single day scuba fund raising event in the United States. Held each year on the first Wednesday of May. For Chamber Day Dive Boat from Southern California generously donate their time to take divers to the island for a couple dives and a walking tour at the Chamber. At the Chamber divers get a chance to talk to people who are involved in handing diving accidents (Chamber Crew, Baywatch Paramedics, US Coast Guard, LA County Sheriffs, LA City Port Police) to help de-mystify what happens when an accident occurs. All the proceeds from the day go to the Chamber. Chamber Evening is a fund raising dinner for up to 500 people held at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach. The Chamber Day website, and on-line sign ups for the event, goes live the last week of February each year.

  • Most of the donations we receive are from individuals who very generously give what they can (how to donate).

  • Various Dive Clubs in Southern California set aside a portion of their funds annually to help support the Chamber.

  • Some companies have payroll deduction programs which allow donations to non-profit organizations. Check with your employer to see if they have set up a payroll deduction program.

  • Some companies have foundations or programs which will match contributions to non-profit organizations. Checking with your employer could help double your contribution.

  • While many companies help sponsor fund raising events like the Chamber Day/Evening and the Avalon Underwater Clean-Ups some companies directly contribute funds to the Chamber in association with these fund raisers.

  • There are various fund raising events that are held during the year that the proceeds either fully or partially go to help fund the Chamber. Information and dates will be hot linked to the following events as they are scheduled:

  • The donation of Equipment, Supplies, and/or Services is highly valued. Many companies donate equipment or services as raffle prizes for our Chamber Day raffles. Other companies provide equipment or services that can be used in chamber operations or is of benefit to the volunteer Chamber Crew.

  • The Chamber is grateful for all the support it receives. A listing of the various contributors, by year, is being worked on for this new web system.
