The USC Catalina Hyperbaric Chamber runs hands-on training classes for hyperbaric chamber operations. These classes are used to train people interested in joining our Volunteer Chamber Crew; those who are going to be running hyperbaric chambers elsewhere; and Diving Medical Technician (DMT) trainees [Note: The EDAM Class plus the Hands-On Chamber Operations Class constitutes “Module-16” training towards a National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology DMT certification].
The 2-1/2 day Friday–Monday classes (run following the EDAM & ERD classes) trains people in the Inside Tender, Operator, and Recorder positions. Most of the time is spent with students actually operating the Chamber on Standard Dives, Treatment Simulations, and Lock Runs.
