Anglo-American Legal Tradition (AALT)

Digitized images of medieval and early modern documents from The National Archives; the number of images are projected to expand by about 400,000 a year.  This website operates under a license from TNA and includes several paleography exercises, as well as several helpful essays by Robert Palmer.


Anglo-Saxon Prosopography

PASE (Prosopography of Anglo-Saxon England) is a database of all recorded inhabitants of England from the late sixth to the end of the eleventh century.


British Empire Studies

Links, an international directory of scholars, and other materials dedicated to the study of the British Empire.

CAIN: The Conflict in Northern Ireland

CAIN contains information and source material about the conflict in Northern Ireland from 1968 to the present. 


The Camelot Project

Begun in 1995, the Camelot Project is a electronic database of Arthurian texts, images, bibliographies, and basic information.

Celtic Inscribed Stones Project

Directed by Professor Wendy Davies, the CISP is compiling a database of all known  Celtic inscriptions c. 400-1100 in Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Brittany, the Isle of Man, and parts of western England.   Included are all stone monuments inscribed with text, whether in the Celtic vernacular or Latin, in the Roman alphabet or ogham (but excluding runic inscriptions). Results-to-date are available online.


CHCC: Census Data

The Collection of Historical and Contemporary Census Data seeks to enhance the use of censuses in teaching and learning.


The Court of Chivalry

Drawing on archives in the College of Arms and Arundel Castle, this site details more than 700 cases brought before the Court of Chivalry during its heyday between 1634 and 1640. Most relate to defamation and slander.

Cycles of the Irish Kings

An ongoing project since 2003, this site aims to provide information on Old, Middle, and Early Modern Irish narratives that deal with the exploits of Irish kings, including a list of all the extant sagas together with plot summaries; notes on manuscript sources, translations, and editions; bibliographies of secondary literature; and character lists.  The purpose is to provide students and teachers with the background necessary to read and appreciate these sagas.

MsOMIT: Manuscripts Sources for Old and Middle Irish Tales

Sheela Na Gig Project

Sheela na gigs are carvings of women exposing their genitalia, usually found in churches constructed in the central middle ages.  They survive today especially in Ireland and Britain.  This site catalogs sheela na gigs in Britain, offering photographs and extensive commentary.
