Global East Asia China is a scholarship summer study abroad program administered by the USC East Asian Studies Center. Made possible by a generous grant from the Freeman Foundation, the program provides a small group of USC undergraduate students the opportunity to study abroad in Shanghai, China with all major expenses covered: roundtrip international airfare from LAX, basic housing and meals, travel within China, and local transportation and entrance fees related to the course.
This year, fourteen students were chosen through a competitive application process to participate in the program, which is based at Fudan University. While abroad, they will take “Global China 1800 to the Present: The View from Shanghai and Beyond” (EASC 360 Global East Asia) taught by Brett Sheehan, USC Associate Professor of History. The students will also travel extensively throughout China for a unique, intensive experience, shared through this blog.
Global East Asia is also offered in Japan and Korea. For more information, please visit the website: http://dornsife.usc.edu/eascenter/gea/
