Fellowships & Financial Aid

Ph.D. students at Dornsife College are admitted with a competitive financial package consisting of five years of support.  Our financial support packages include tuition and health and dental benefits.  Each student also has the opportunity to compete for additional support in the form of conference travel funding, summer research funding and dissertation completion fellowships.

USC Provost’s Fellowships
The Provost's Ph.D. Fellowship Program is a university-wide program that funds annually 100 outstanding Ph.D. students. The Provost's Ph.D. Fellowship Program is comprised of Provost's Fellowships and Provost's Diversity Fellowships. These fellowships are offered to incoming Ph.D. students who show outstanding promise for careers in academic research and teaching, and who will serve to increase the representation of under-represented groups in their disciplines.

USC College Doctoral Fellowships
College Doctoral Fellowships are awarded to the very best students.  Fellows receive an enhanced fellowship support package that also includes summer support and research funding for five years. They also may participate in enhanced professionalism training as well as an interdisciplinary learning and exchange program. The selection process for these fellowships is part of the graduate application cycle, and students who are selected as College Doctoral Fellows begin the program in their first year at USC.  Some of our current College Doctoral Fellows can be seen here.

USC College Merit Fellowships
College Merit Fellowships are awarded to outstanding doctoral students to support their education and research. The fellowships typically provide two years of full stipend support to students in the humanities and social sciences, and top-off stipends to students serving as graduate assistants in the sciences. Additional benefits include tuition remission, payment of the mandatory student health care center fee and USC graduate student health and dental insurance premiums.

Financial Aid
Other options available for funding your Ph.D. education and can be found on the USC Financial Aid website.
