The “Burning Issues” Series   is a new series of faculty-student discussions on major contemporary international issues. The purpose of the series is to engage informed people with differing perspectives on key issues in a lively, moderated discussion around a well-posed central question, with ample opportunity for faculty and students beyond the most expert to participate appropriately in the discussion. Our aim is to promote multi-disciplinary illumination of significant current policy questions and to improve each other's "mental maps" about the contours of the issue, not to seek a consensus position.
