Summary:

You are invited to the Science Film Showcase and award ceremony for USC's first film-making competition focusing on science!

Description:

For three months during the Fall 2011 semester, 80 students from a wide range of programs throughout USC have been working on a variety of film projects, in a variety of genres. 18 teams of students formed through the students' own initiative, using word of mouth and online connections such as blogs and facebook. Each team's mission was to pool their talents and expertise to make an original film with a strong science component, and in so doing, discover how each other's disciplines can be used in integrating scientific concepts into visual storytelling.

The completed films are competing for prizes (1st place $2500, 2nd place $1500, 3rd place $500) to be awarded by a panel of judges. On Wednesday, January 25, in an evening that celebrates all the teams' work, the films will be screened together for the first time. The award ceremony will immediately follow the showcase.

Light refreshments will be served.

Arrive early! Seating is limited and available on a "first come, first serve" basis.  No RSVP or reservations.

For more about the competition rules and guidelines see: http://sciencefilms.usc.edu/
