How can religious organizations take protective steps to ensure the safety of worshipers? The carnage left in the wake the terrorist attack in Lahore, Pakistan on Easter Sunday is a gruesome reminder of nine people killed following Bible Study on June 17, 2015 at Mother Emmanuel AME Church in Charleston.

The USC Center for Religion and Civic Culture, the Cecil Murray Center for Community engagement and COR Community Development Corporation are hosting the National Faith Leaders Conference: Empowering Community and Making Houses of Worship Safe.

The plenary session and luncheon, “Keeping Houses of Worship Safe,” will take place on Friday, April 29. Brie Loskota, Executive Director of CRCC, Sandra Hutchens, OC Sheriff Department, Dr. Jannah Scott, Director of the Center for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships at the Department of Homeland Security, and Stephen Woolery, FBI Los Angeles Office will share value information on methods of protecting sacred spaces.

Author and activist Cornel West will to speak Saturday, April 30th at 10am.
