Gordon Hutner is the editor of American Literary History, which he founded 25 years ago. Next month ALH will publish its 100th issue. A professor of English at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, he is the author of What America: Taste, Classs, and the Novel, 1920-1960.
