Leading scholars in the fields of history and Japanese studies will discuss a new book manuscript by Clinton Godart, Assistant Professor of History, Religion and East Asian Languages and Cultures at USC, entitled Overcoming Darwin: Evolutionary Theory and Religion in Modern Japanese Thought (1868-1970). Manuscript discussants include Kevin M. Doak, Nippon Foundation Endowed Chair in Japanese Studies and Professor of East Asian Languages and Cultures at Georgetown University, and Frederick Gregory, Professor Emeritus of History of Science at the University of Florida.
